Why is there a Metabolife investigation?
The Justice Department opened a criminal investigation to determine if Metabolife International lied to the FDA when saying they had not received any reports of adverse health effects caused by their popular diet pill Metabolife. Due to Metabolife's classification as a food, the FDA has been unable to regulate Metabolife although they have been trying to obtain records from the company since 1997.
