Ephedrine drugs seized by the FDA

Under the direction of the Food and Drug Administration, US officials have seized the ephedrine dietary supplement Lipodrene, made by ATF Fitness Products, Inc.

United States Marshals confiscated five unlabeled boxes of the ephedrine supplement Lipodrene from their Pennsylvania location. The estimated value of these boxes—each of which contained 100-pill bottles of this ephedrine alkaloid—is approximately $16,000.

Lipodrene, and other ephedrine alkaloids, are stimulants similar to adrenaline that can have deadly effects on cardiovascular health. Studies have found that ephedrine supplements increase blood pressure and put significant stress on the circulatory system, which can lead to fatal conditions such as heart attacks and strokes.

In 2004, the FDA declared that supplements containing ephedrine pose an unreasonable risk of injury or illness. These medications are not safe for use due to their dangerous side effect risks.

If you believe that you may have been adversely affected by Ephedrine, you may want to contact a qualified health professional to discuss your concerns.
