Major Lawsuit Filed Against Pharmaceutical Company
A group of attorney’s from Batesville, Arkansas are currently involved in a major lawsuit they’ve filed against pharmaceutical companies that are suspected of profiting from drugs containing ephedrine.
“We feel that the pharmaceutical companies are putting more product on the market, than what the market calls for,” explains one attorney.
Attorneys Take Action
Several attorneys in Independence County are leading the way in a monumental lawsuit against dozens of pharmaceutical companies and their subsidiaries.
The attorneys claim that one company showed a drastic decrease in revenues, sales went from 180-million a year to 30-million a year, when drugs containing ephedrine were put behind the counter.
“We saw a problem and we are trying to fix it,” says Judge Bill Hicks, who is also involved in the case.
Arkansas State Follows the Lead
After residents and city and state officials across Arkansas found out about the lawsuit to fight ephedrine and meth use, 22 other counties joined the suit and dozens more are expected to jump on board.
In the 1990’s ephedrine and pseudophedrine products were banned across the U.S. and are only permitted in cold medications; however, many believe the companies are taking advantage of this slight exception and more products are containing the harmful ingredient than are needed in order to boost sales.
